Holidays will be different in 2020

Cendant-commissioned research has found that in 2020 travellers will be demanding one-off experiences, with vacation decisions based on ‘emotional not financial values’.
Top-line findings from “The World of Travel in 2020” have been issued today from Cendant Travel Distribution Services HQ in New Jersey. Findings with a specific UK angle will be released by Cendant at the ABTA Convention later this month.
The growth in demand for experience-driven travel is part of a sociological change which will see people in 2020 ‘differentiated by what they do, not what they buy’. The study suggests travellers will want ‘controlled danger, unusual environments and cultures, personal or physical improvement and emotional development.’ Anthro-tourism – authentic cultural encounters – will be a growth area.
Destination loyalty will not interest the traveller in 2020. Loyalty to the supplier, however, will depend on its ‘ability to deliver a fresh stream of one-off experimental vacations.’
Travellers will also make decisions ‘emotionally rather than financially’ while ‘personal service will increasingly outweigh price as the key differentiator’.
Package holidays will not disappear, the study says, with a lot of the demand driven ‘by a new wave of affluent middle class consumers from China, Brazil, Russia and India’.

The above report is good news for former Charlton Athletic, West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle Striker Andy Hunt who now lives in Belize with his Family and owns and runs the Belize Jungle Dome . The Picture on the left with the Crocodile was recently taken on a trip to Ambergris Caye, Belize showing that " Controlled Danger" is indeed what tourists are looking for, although Andy would never let his guests get this close to the Open Jaws of the Crocodile, the photo is of a local who apparently just does this for fun. Adventure Travel is indeed a growing phenomenon and the picture of the Rhino above was taken by our own Travel Consultant Paul Knapper on a recent Trip to South Africa. A Full report with Photographs will appear shortly, but here are a few Photos just to Whet your appetite.
